While we were deciding on the paint color, I figured it was time for the REALLY fun part....Buying the home theater equipment! If you've checked out Setting your budget in the Home theater section, you'll know that I had a pretty good idea of the equipment I wanted, and had set a budget of around $8,000-$10,000 for the entire system. After doing tons of research and price checking both at local stores, and online merchants, here's what I decided to purchase.
Epson Powerlite Home 1080P projector & Carada 102" screen
After checking out Sony's 1080P projectors, and reading reviews of both the Sony and the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 Home Theater Projector, I went with the Epson. It was selling for about 1/2 the price of the Sony- for comparable image quality. For the home theater screen, I went with a 102" Carada bright white screen.
Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH receiver
This is my third Pioneer home theater receiver, and I'm happy with each one. I've always wanted a Pioneer Elite home theater receiver, and with full 1080P support, and three HDMI inputs, this one will be great driving my home theater system!
Aperion 5 series home theater speakers
This is my second home theater speaker system from Aperion, and both systems rock! This system is driven by 5 series tower speakers and center channel, an awesome 12" subwoofer, and Aperion's 534SS bipole-dipole surround speakers. The shiny piano black finish is truly a sight to behold!
Sony PS3 Blu-ray player
The Sony PS3 was by far the best Blu-ray player on the market when I made the purchase. Even in today's crowded market it holds its own. It is one of the fastest loading players, has support for all major sound formats, and is upgradeable via downloadable firmware updates. To top it off, I received 15 Blu-ray movies FREE through Walmart & Sony promotions.
Harmony 880 universal remote
Faced with the possibility of a system with at least 6 remotes, the Harmony 880 universal remote was a great idea! Not to mention the fact that I got it for $100 off the regular price! The Harmony software allows you to easily download the codes for every component in your system, and features programmable macros to make things easier!
